Clarissa Woods
Yoga Instructor
Clarissa has been practicing yoga for just about 4 years and early on discovered that yoga was something she didn't know she truly needed. Growing up right outside of Manhattan, stillness and mindfulness weren't exactly a part of her life. Having been a professional dancer, yoga came naturally to her, but was a way to explore movement in a non-competitive, mindful, and internally driven way. She earned her 200 RYT at Wildlight Wellness under the guidance of Jeremy Grace in 2022. Since then Yoga completely changed her life in the most positive way, so it is her mission and life purpose to share that with others. Her favorite things about yoga include the teachings of meditation, the ethics, and the intertwining of breath with movement.

What classes do you teach at Studio Bamboo?
Hot Multi Flow
How would you describe your teaching style?
In my classes you will activate, strengthen, and become more flexible all in the mind and body. To me yoga is all about the inner-work. The postures' physical benefits are an added bonus. All of my classes are trauma informed and I prioritize a safe space for all. You will definitely get a good workout in, but you will leave feeling calm and peaceful.
What type of student would benefit from your classes?
All levels, ages, and experiences are welcome. Any student who is looking to deepen their practice spiritually and physically are sure to benefit!
What does yoga mean to you?
Yoga means everything. In yoga we dedicate the hour of class to be in the present moment and focus on our intentions. But the real practice comes off the mat in our daily lives. Finding balance, strength, flexibility, stillness, fluidity, focus, and surrender in each moment not in a formal practice is the goal. Life really is our true practice.
What is your favorite asana and why?
My favorite asana is supta baddha konasana or reclined bound angle pose. Because the hips store lots of emotions, memories, and trauma, I find this pose to be a great way to release and let go of anything one might be holding onto. I practice this pose before bed almost every night!
