I am an Air Force brat and Navy wife with a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology. My adventurous side loves traveling, backpacking & hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and anything new or outdoors. Whilst my introverted personality keeps me balanced and enjoys hot tea, reading, my rescue kitty Nikka, cooking & baking, making wreaths, Disney movies, and organizing.

What classes do you teach at Studio Bamboo?

Foundations, Multi Flow, Barre

How would you describe your teaching style?

Eclectic. Having taught in 3 different states, in everything from studios and gyms to drug/alcohol rehab centers and ballet studios, I have obtained different lessons from each. Each venue and part of the country tends to form their yoga practiced centered on a certain aspect which forces me as the instructor to change and do the same. It has molded me into a well rounded and versatile teacher always willing and able to cater to my students current needs.

Who would you recommend taking your classes?

Anyone and everyone just depends on the class. I started from the ground up with NO flexibility and weak, injured wrists. As instructors, we can only teach what we know, and I know what it is like to be new to yoga, thinking I'll never be able to touch my toes. I will hold my students hand every inch of the way if they need. At the same time, my practice has progressed and I love hot power kick-your-butt-vinyasa. So if you want a strong sweaty flow with a variety of unique transitions and options and a little classic rock on the playlist, come challenge yourself with me.

What does yoga mean to you?

Next to my faith, it is my biggest saving grace. Yoga is not just a side gig for me, it is my full time career. It helps me navigate and mentally handle deployments and other aspects of being a Navy wife. Sure, yoga is a means for me to stay fit and in good health, but through that it has taught me self awareness and body awareness as well. It has opened my eyes to my strengths and weaknesses (not just physical) and showed me that I am far more capable than I ever thought I could be. Yoga has become my identity.

Your favorite asana and Why?

Chaturanga Dandasana because it is the epitome of strength and control.
