Ginny DeCoster’s classes use a focus on detail and alignment to still the mind. Ginny is skilled at providing hands-on adjustments and modifications for each student. Through each class, Ginny shares her true passion for teaching--therapeutically helping individuals in a group setting explore the physical and mental benefits of yoga.
Certifications & Trainings:
Ginny completed RYT 200 and RYT 500 certifications in Hatha Yoga with Ann Richardson of Virginia Beach in 2008 and 2010 respectively. She is also certified in Astanga/Power Yoga through Beryl Bender Birch and The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute. In 2016, Ginny attended Raja Yoga Academy’s first USA RYT 500 under the direction of Craig Villani in Huntington Beach, CA, training in the original “26 & 2” of Bikram hot yoga.

How would you describe your teaching style?
Whether she leads a gentle class, a vinyasa flow, or the hot series, Ginny believes there is no such thing as a hard posture. Even the most challenging postures can be broken down into stages, allowing an element of comfort as students advance in each posture and practice.

What does yoga mean to you?
Yoga is effort toward steadiness of mind
Your favorite asana and Why?
"Dancer" or "Standing bow pulling" pose. Because it incorporates so many elements all at the same time...Balance on one leg, The strength of kicking, flexibility in the hamstrings, twisting, and back bending. With all that happening, my mind never wanders, and I find clarity. That is the mindset I want to take with me off my mat.
